But there is lots more to work on, which is why the idea of a Regional Air Quality Board sounds good to me. Maybe they can get diesel emissions updated!Duncan Parkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17308036078949172749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2536099181385174850.post-86859881926129635942016-02-21T23:10:13.650-08:002016-02-21T23:10:13.650-08:00You're right that if our air regionally isn...You're right that if our air regionally isn't great, that a comparison with the whole county would not pick that up. That's kind of the point, though; this analysis is supposed to see if proximity to Bullseye is worse than the region as a whole. I've seen suggestions that EPA keeps track of regional differences, but I haven't dug up the data...gotta sleep sometime!

Glad you liked the post!Duncan Parkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17308036078949172749noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2536099181385174850.post-70922368921642646012016-02-21T07:56:30.319-08:002016-02-21T07:56:30.319-08:00Personally, I think BE has a publicity nightmare h...Personally, I think BE has a publicity nightmare here. Regardless of the findings, there are those that are not educated enough to understand the findings or who think there is some consistency theory going on. Sad but true. I think that BE is going to have to take the higher ground on this one and purchase the much more expensive collection baffles. I was looking for the specific name, I know someone said what they were, but anyway. Unfortunately, people are nuts right now. Please don't get me wrong. I think they should be concerned just not over zealous. When I attended the community meeting at Tubman last night, I realized that that there are a lot of areas suffering from really bad air quality problems in Portland, which obviously dominates Multnomah County. So it may be that we are comparing the Bullseye area with a worse-than-ideal comparison group, so even a moderate here effect might not be visible. That is to say, without Bullseye, it seems possible that we'd expect this area as being better than the county as a whole.

I guess what I'm saying is that I agree the data suggests we are not seeing a huge effect, but the datasets are so small (thankfully), and there are enough confounding factors that I don't feel fully confident in the conclusions.Corinarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14594553953384769959noreply@blogger.com
